With Sword in Hand

Never have I been more aware that I am in a battle. Not with the people around me, not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers of the darkness of this world. God is giving me specific assignments to wrestle in prayer for. I was feeling really inadequate - which is a good thing, since I certainly am - but by the Lord I received this commission and by Him will I do it. He gave me this Scripture today, and it really encouraged me that I was doing what He wanted me to do.
I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem;
They shall never hold their peace day or night.
You who make mention of the LORD, do not keep silent,
And give Him no rest till He establishes
And till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.
- Isaiah 62:6-7
If you read it in context, the rest of the chapter is about the awesome things the Lord is going to accomplish. Righteousness -the way it ought to be- will go forth. (v.1) The Lord will be praised! (v.9) Salvation is coming. (v.11). Be strong and courageous, children of God!  He is faithful and worthy to be praised at all time. You have everything you need in Him.

  1. A well known passage that is smashed into our brains as children but really doesn't take on any meaning till we are mature enough to start battling for God's glory.

    Ephesians 6:10-18

    10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.

    11Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.

    12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

    13Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.

    14Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS,

    15and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE;

    16in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

    17And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

    18With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,

    Not sure why the NASB on Bible Gateway capitalizes some things.
